Rough Drafts

In multiple subjects today, students worked to complete rough drafts for future projects.  It all started in writing, where we reviewed our "A Day in the Life of 5th Grade" blog post, which will be the first one on our Weekly Updates blog page. The students were informed of the expectations yesterday: pick 4 times throughout the day to write a paragraph about and include a picture. That means a total of four paragraphs and four pictures in one post. Students took time today to think of their ideas and begin drafting.

We normally don't draft when posting to our blog, but this is a longer post for Prairie Dog Pride Night next week on Thursday.  This also gives students the chance to take any pictures they need to for their blog post. I can't wait to see what they'll write about!

A few hours later, students were also drafting their posters for social studies.  They were discussing the facts they'd gathered during research time with group members and deciding who was going to include which facts on their individual poster. These were lively discussions, and then students got to work designing. Tomorrow, we'll begin working on the digital poster, with the hope of presenting about each region next week.
