Cursive

Some days during reading, students will practice cursive handwriting as their workstation.  Today students did our first cursive card, which involves responding to a prompt and adding a few sentences.  They're expected to write a total of three sentences, which seemed hard today since they weren't in the habit of writing cursive.  Some students enjoyed writing about their favorite school lunch, while others didn't know what to respond because they always bring their lunch from home.  Ha!

I promised the kids that writing in cursive would get easier the more they practiced.  We also added a copy of the cursive alphabet to their writing folders, so they could use it as a reference, if needed, along with the banner on the wall.  Until the next cursive "D" day...
