Narrative Drafts

Today we reviewed the first two ways writers generate ideas for their personal narratives: thinking of an important person and turning points in our life (first times, last times, and important times). The students began by looking over the ideas they listed last week and adding new ideas they'd thoughts of over the weekend.

Then everyone picked ONE they wanted to write a personal narrative about today.  The students first met with a partner to give the two minute version of the story aloud.  After that, they started typing on their iPad in Google docs. Because I was conferencing with students, I didn't get any pictures of the students typing like I meant to.

We'll continue discussing more ways writers generate ideas for personal narratives throughout the week and practice typing stories in Google docs.
